Giving Back: Dorney Park Cares Increases Outreach and Charitable Giving in 2023 and 2024

Despite non-stop preparations for a historic year, Dorney Park’s team of dedicated men and women have not lost focus on what is important, their community.
Following an expansion of outreach and giving in 2023 under the leadership of the Dorney Park Cares Team, Dorney Park has plans to go further and do more in 2024.
Whether it’s children in need, our heroes, students and educators, or causes our associates believe in; our goal remains the same, to provide better fun for a better world.
In 2023 Dorney Park focused on ticket donation programs, charitable events at the park, volunteerism, and education.
Ticket Donation Programs
Every year, Dorney Park Cares, donates thousands of tickets, products and funds to organizations in the Lehigh Valley as well as the Greater New York and Philadelphia regions.
In 2023, with the help of DonationMatch, Dorney Park supported over a thousand events and organizations with over two thousand tickets and experiences donated for a total contribution of $150,000 to non-profits. The charities supported by the park are both big and small; all serving the communities you live and grow in.
Events
Dorney Park hosted three large scale events for partner organizations committed to children and families in need in 2023 and has at least five planned for 2024.
A Kid Again will once again partner with Dorney Park for the annual Rides and Slides Adventure, now in its 4th year. In 2023, over 900 children and their families were able to enjoy free admission, a meal and more.
The United Way will also partner with Dorney this summer, as they did in 2023 for an event to support local families.
More information about additional events will be released at a later date.
Volunteerism
The Dorney Park Cares Team stepped up around the community in 2023, and plans are already in motion to grow that impact in 2024.
For the 4th time, a team of Dorney Park volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help landscape, paint, build and more at Camelot for Children, a nonprofit that provides year-round social and educational opportunities for children with disabilities or chronic or terminal illnesses.
Dorney Park also partnered with WFMZ and Giant for the annual Food Truck Food Drive, where 13,700 meals were collected right in Dorney’s main parking lot. Plans are already in place to host the event again this year.
In December the Dorney Park Cares Team also worked with local partners in South Whitehall Township and Allentown to help with “Holiday Hero” events, giving back to children and families in need during the holiday season.
As with other initiatives, plans are in motion to expand and grow volunteer opportunities for associates in 2024.
Education
Throughout the year Dorney Park will host hundreds of schools as part of educational programs and will distribute tickets for fundraising purposes.
Dorney Park Cares also works with area trade schools and colleges to host informational, career events that encourage learning and growth within the hospitality, resorts, and tourism industry.
Education is a top priority for the team at Dorney Park and will continue to be so in 2024.
