Pokemon GO Player's Guide

For those of you who have yet to play, or are already avoid Pokémon GO players, Dorney Park is the place to play! We have found 36 Pokéstops and 3 gyms within the park - you can battle, restock items or claim more Pokémon (we also sell Pokémon merchandise if you are interested in picking up some swag). While we encourage our guests to play Pokémon GO while they are visiting Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom, we ask that players are courteous of other guests and follow park rules.  Here are some tips to ensure that all Pokémon trainers can play both efficiently and safely while in the park.

Preparing to Play Pokémon at Dorney Park

  • Make sure that your phone is fully charged. We suggest bringing an external battery pack so that you stay powered throughout the day.
  • Update your app. The newest version is the least likely to have technical errors.
  • Turn on the game's batttery saver mode. This ensures that the game will still register your Pokéstops when you're walking but not actively playing the game. Simply go to your Pokéball and look for the gear icon on the top right corner of your screen. You'll see the battery saver mode option under there.
  • Stay hydrated. With the constant movement required in Pokémon GO, make sure you stay as hydrated as possible. Check out our Souvenir Bottles, available for purchase online and in the park, which can get you FREE refills the rest of the day!

Catching Them 'All!

  • Don't tire yourself out for Pokéstops! Be strategic and maximize your day of thrills and the game! Pokéstops refresh every 5 minutes after they are activated, this allows you to stay in an area and enjoy the rides. Once the Pokéstops turn back to blue, you can activate them again at the same location and still get more items!
  • Transfer spare Pokémon to Professor Willow! There is a possibility that you will accummulate more of the same type of Pokémon you already have. You can keep the Pokémon with the higher CP (combat power) and transfer the remaining Pokémon to the professor. In exchange, Professor Willow gives you candy which you can use to evolve your Pokémon.
  • When catching Pokémon, pay attention to the circle's size and color! You can get more XP if you throw your Pokésball directly at the inner circle typically over the Pokémon's body. (TIP: The smaller the circle, the more points you get.) You also have the option to throw a curveball by tapping and then holding down the Pokéball before you toss it. This is an easy way to get even more points! The color indicates the level of difficulty to capture the Pokémon - green is easiest, yellow is moderate, and red is advanced. (TIP: If you see the circle is red, consider going into your backpack and feeding the Pokémon a Razz Berry to make it them easier to catch.)
  • Keep your eyes peeled! Leaves indicate that a Pokémon is near, petals indicate a lure at a Pokéstop has been activated, and the tracker in the lower right hand corner informs you of which Pokémon are nearby. Be sure to look for those details during your Dorney Pokémon travels.

Playing Safely and Efficiently

  • Remain aware of your surroundings and be courteous of other guests. Please try to avoid walking in the middle of pathways so you're less likely to bump into other guests while enjoying the game.
  • Do not enter any restricted areas. These areas are prohibited for your safety and will result in ejection from the park if you enter them.
  • Do not play while on rides. Being in the proximity of a ride gets you the benefit of a Pokéstop, so there is no need to play while on the ride. Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom is not responsible for any damages or lost personal items. Please leave your phone in your bag or in a cubby before you enjoy the ride.
  • Do not play the game and drive at the same time. Under no circumstances are you allowed to play the game while operating a vehicle. This is for the safety of all drivers and pedestrians in our parking lots and the roads surrounding the park.
