Thunderhawk trains get TLC from PTC

On October 31st, just one day after the operating season for 2022 ended, Dorney Park shipped two Thunderhawk trains to Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc in Hatfield, PA.
The trains, now several years old, are still there and to date have undergone an extensive rehabilitation in preparation for the 2023 season.
According to PTC Inc the trains were stripped, broken down, cleaned, tested, inspected, repainted, reassembled and rebuilt over the course of 4 months.
In February, Dorney Park went to go see the most exciting part, the rebuild. The PTC Inc team worked fast, diligently and professionally as they put the puzzle back together, creating the trains that you know and love.
The team at PTC Inc also allowed us to film parts of the process and have agreed to an interview to be filmed at a later date which will showcase their work and beautiful trains.
Dorney Park appreciates the winter overhaul and refurbishment of the iconic ride as Thunderhawk; once known as The Coaster; prepares for its 99th operating season. Back in 1923 the ride was manufactured by the team at Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc and has been a mainstay ever since and PTC Inc remains a special part of our story.
PTC Inc. has been an industry innovator since 1904 and are responsible for 147 wooden roller coasters, 82 of which are operational today.
