"It's Like Home": Meet Our First Ever Season Pass Holder

Where does time go?
It flies, like Thunderhawk rolling down hill, anticipation at every turn, nervous excitement with every drop.
It moves so fast that we often don’t get a chance to catch our breath and find ourselves 40 plus years later talking about sweet memories.
For Reverend Cliff Herring one of those memories was born in 1983 when he created a line outside the park and became the first season pass holder in Dorney Park’s storied history.
“They filled out the form,” Herring told the Dorney Park team. “It’s pass number 000001.”
Number one.
Since that purchase thousands have done the same.
Collecting passes that would define summers, open opportunities, and bring families together under the wood, metal, and water of some of Eastern Pennsylvania’s greatest attractions.
“I love amusement parks they’re just a great place to be,” Herring said. “This is where I can come, even if I have an hour or two. It’s like home. I would be devastated if they ever closed this place.”
Herring is still a season pass holder. Thunderhawk is the ride he loves the most.
“What a season pass gives you is so many opportunities to come and to just enjoy the park,” Herring said. “You don’t have to spend the whole day here there is no pressure.”
Dorney Park is like home and from one memory, the purchase of just one season pass, countless others have been born.
“If you and your children or just you love amusement parks buying a season pass is probably the best investment you can make because you can come as many times as you want during the year,” Herring said. “It includes parking and what was really neat is on a summer evening you can come here after work and you have a few hours to spend to ride the rides or just come and watch people it’s a wonderful experience.”
