Daughter Puts Tickets In Time Capsule, Gets Dorney Trip 16 Years Later

Lisa O’Donnell hoped to give her family a fun-filled day at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom during the summer of 2006. 16 years later, she fulfilled that wish.
Why 16 years later?
That’s where it gets tricky.
Lisa O’Donnell, of Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania, purchased day tickets to Dorney Park for the 2006 season. Little did she know, however, that her daughter, Elizabeth, was working on her elementary school time capsule. A time capsule, for those unfamiliar, is a container of any kind that stores photos, toys, letters, or a memory of any kind. Those items are sealed inside of the container and not to be opened until several years later.
Elizabeth, who just graduated from Pocono Mountain West High School, was told to conceal her “most prized possessions” within the time capsule. She was ecstatic to go to Dorney Park that summer, so she found her mother's purchased tickets and put them inside her capsule.
When it was time to make their way to Allentown, Lisa could not find the tickets. The only explanation was she herself had lost the tickets.
Over a decade later, it was time for Elizabeth to open her time capsule. Low and behold, tucked inside of the capsule, were the tickets Lisa purchased years ago. Elizabeth’s response…
“Yeah…I forgot to tell you!”
The O’Donnell family, who are roller coaster fanatics, were able to turn their 2006 tickets into 2022 tickets and enjoy their day at the park.
“It was great”, Lisa explained, “Dorney Park is our favorite amusement park, we brought our family, and it is just such a fun place”.
After 16 years, the O’Donnells finally got their trip.
Elizabeth will be attending Moravian University this fall to study physics with an engineering focus.
