Christina's Top 3 Water Safety Tips

Summer is here and we are excited to see our guests, returning and new, in Wildwater Kingdom this summer.  Since May is Water Safety month, and we have a lot of water, I thought I would provide some quick safety tips, to help folks have a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience.

Here are my ‘Top 3 Tips’ on having a fun and safe summer season here at Wildwater Kingdom:

  1. Sunscreen is your friend.  Everyone needs to wear some sunscreen, even if you tan easily like me.  Sunscreen helps protect you from the UV rays that can cause sun burn and it also helps you maintain an even skin tone so you can avoid those wonderful tan lines.  Not to mention it also helps lower the risk of skin cancer (bonus!).
  2. Drink plenty of water.  Don’t wait until you are thirsty. Start hydrating early, especially on hot days.  Maybe mix in a Powerade type drink with your water consumption. Drink soda, juice, and energy drinks in moderation, as they can dehydrate you. Enjoy a little break while you are getting a glass of water.  Too often, people get to the waterpark and do not think of staying hydrated.  If you need a cup of water, our food stands would be more than happy to give you one.
  3. Wear a lifejacket, if you need to, no matter what age you are.  There is nothing wrong with being safe, especially if you are not the strongest swimmer.  We offer lifejackets, for use, free of charge, to anyone who needs one.  We carry four sizes: Adult, Youth, Child and Infant. Pick one up and use it for the entire day.  When you are done using it, take to one of our lifejacket racks and hang in back up, or give it to an Aquatic Attendant, and they can help get it back to a lifejacket rack.

These are just a couple of tips to have a fun and safe summer her at WWK.

Hope to see you soon!
